Love Your Mother . . .

a27cf53c8f27f1e40117ac64d3c635f9--earth-day-planet-earth

I know God . . . I see him every time I look into a mirror . . . so do you . . . so does everybody that owns a beating heart . . . including my dog . . . including the acorns in my yard.

To know the mystery in totality is to know that which lies beyond the structure of time and space, we can’t do that . . . but we can see the mystery manifested in each of those things I just mentioned . . .

It’s easy until we begin to lose sight of the forest and fall in love with our favorite tree . . . until we deny our responsibility in all this . . . until we deny the effects of our creativity both personally and corporately . . . until we deny that the mystery gave us this Earth to be our living heaven and we have chosen instead to recreate it into our living hell.

As we go about our day praying for the future heaven . . . perhaps, just perhaps we may already be there. Instead of waiting for a new home in a new place, perhaps we ought to get busy cleaning up this one . . . it may be the only one we get!

The Connection

chain

We often hear someone say, “All things are connected” . . . or “we are all one” . . . or “we are all a part of the one God” . . . or some variation of those three statements, but I wonder how deep we go with it. I wonder how many people actually get it, actually get the depth and breadth of this statement. Does religion get it? I think not. . . . Does science get it? I think not. Do I get it? Not in totality, but I think I, as well as many other freethinkers are mentally free enough, and on the path enough, to get a pretty good idea of the reality behind these statements.

Allow me to explain in metaphor what I see and what I mean when I personally say, “Well, we are all connected you know, everything that exudes energy, even in minute doses, is connected to everything else that exudes energy and all are an integral part of life.”

In the beginning there was Intelligence and there was Energy….that’s all there was.

Beyond that, there lies a huge green door . . . behind the green door lives a Mystery so deep and so hidden that our brains cannot spiritually or physically, fathom it.

Because we cannot fathom it, we either worship it as God . . . or we fearfully ignore it and pretend that science just hasn’t found the key to the door quite yet, but it will . . . and off we go in theoretical physics trying to prove the existence of the God particle.

Well, my guess is we won’t, not ever, not even on the fourth, fifth and sixth dimensions will we ever discover it. The answer to the Mystery behind the green door will always remain one step ahead of us until that time in our far off future when we evolve to the point where we CAN reunite with the Mystery that lies behind that green door. Then, like MLK said, (though he was a bit early in saying it, it still rings true), “Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty I’m free at last!”

One day while traveling the Great Void Intelligence happened upon Energy.

Being enamored with Her shimmering beauty He knew He must have Her . . .

He proposed………

She accepted……

Instantly the great marriage experience (later to be called the Big Bang) ensued.

When Intelligence and Energy became One their orgasm flung the seeds of Creativity throughout the Great Void.

The physical universe was formed, Stars, Solar systems, and the smaller planets appeared.

The Earth, being a favored child of the Two, was scattered with the seeds of a million creations, each one having the ability to reproduce and change evolutionary direction as seemed fitting to insure its survivability in the highly competitive environment.

Intelligence and Energy, thrilled with what they had accomplished, chose to remain the Mystery by giving their Manchild physical dominion over their newly formed creation.

Man, in order to understand creation, could only find understanding within their spiritual selves or within the mysteries of creation, otherwise he worshiped idols and doctrines of his own making and moved out of sync with the entire universe. As he quickly succumbed to negative influences, the law of Duality became the order of the day and he found himself lost and alone in a creation of his own making.

Every time we shun the laws of balance and chase profit by destroying an entire mountain top for its coal deposits, or pollute river, or land, or skies, or bomb and mutilate each other in the name of religion, or business, or anything else . . . it is a direct confrontation with the Mystery behind the green door and automatically we go deeper in debt to the Law of Karma.

So when we beg for help . . . the Mystery will not hear, when we bow in worship and perform religious rites . . . the Mystery will not see . . .

When we do our designated task and work as caretakers over the physical universe . . . the Mystery does hear . . . when we show empathy to everyone we come in contact with . . . the Mystery does see . . . and because of his actions the Mystery rewards that faithful servant with the spiritual strength to overcome the law of duality and partake of all the joys allotted to them. Their Heaven will be established, their Hell will be destroyed and they will become emissary to the unknown Mystery behind the green door.

Every time men choose profit over planet we are in direct opposition to the owner of this planet. . . . every time we choose planet over profit we are in favor with the owner of this planet.

In one we are creating our Hell . . . in the other our Heaven. . . . NOW, right  now.

When we die we move on into another dimension for sure, but if you think you are going to take part in destroying this planet and then get rewarded with a perfect new one just because someone told you you would . . . guess what.

Responsibility . . .

free your spirit

What greater freedom in life could we have than to realize that we alone are responsible for ourselves? No magic, no tricks, no inside track to perfections . . . and no savior. The latter is important because instead of understanding and utilizing the teachings of Christ we have chosen to avoid all that and just worship the name and rely upon grace to save us.

No doubt, it does feel good not to have to rely upon ourselves. . . granted, “believe and go to heaven” is far more palatable than ” I am responsible for my choices” and according to those choices that I make I either receive a blessing . . . or I receive a cursing.

There is a biblical law called ‘sowing and reaping’ (or karma) that follows every decision, every choice, and every thought we act upon. This life is governed in such a way that every person, regardless of religious affiliation, is absolutely, judgmentally, equal when it comes to living it.

I was once a full bore Christian. As somewhat of a bad actor I was extremely joyful the day I brought Jesus Christ into my life. I was free from all my past sinning. I was free from Hell and going to Heaven. WHAT A RUSH! I had just received a get-out-of-prison card and now I could drop all the sinning and live a holy life for Jesus.

After about seven years of church, and even a couple living 24/7’s in a Christian commune I began to realize that although we all worshiped Jesus and promoted ourselves as being a ‘special’ called out people . . . we were in reality no different than those unbelievers who lived out side the gate.

I worked with them, but these guys were not holy like me. They drank, cussed, smoked pot, and all that stuff, but when I overlooked the sins and took a look at the sinners, I found I had more in common with them than I did with the people I lived with.

It’s not that I didn’t like those people I lived with. I actually loved a few of them.

I think because of doctrinal teachings and a strange code of conduct we couldn’t be ourselves. There was always a phony pretensive language that got in the way.

OK, I said all that to say this: One day I was walking alone in the hills surrounding the farm and I began to think religious thoughts like always, but this time it was different . . . I realized that for all that time in the Christian religion . . . I had been a phony . . . I said all the right things, read all the right books, studied the bible till my eyes bled, and spoke to the best of my ability, the language of a good Christian. BUT . . . I was phony clean through and I knew it.

That day was the beginning of the end to my tour upon this planet as a holier than though born again Christian. I wanted to go back to the dark side and get drunk with my army buddies, I heard the clarion call of my hippie girl friends . . . I wanted to get high and have fun once again like I used to. It wasn’t too long after that, that I left the commune and all those, in spite of the religious nonsense, I loved dearly.

After seven years or so in the Christian community, all I took with me were only a few words: You want to be free?  . . . You must realize in a real way that YOU are responsible for your actions in this life. . . . period.

That all happened in the late sixties . . . and to this day some 40 years later those words are still guiding me through this life. Be kind . . . empathetic . . . give a blessing to everybody you come in contact with . . . forget about being perfect, you ain’t. Not even close. . . And above all else realize that you are responsible for your actions and you will suffer or enjoy the fruits of all of them.

My heaven is not out there somewhere after I’m dead . . . my heaven is HERE right now on this planet. This is the gift God gave to all of us . . .  and this ecological nightmare is the thanks that He/She/It gets for creating it. I no longer have all the answers. I no longer quote scripture, or get caught up in the jargon of the religious. And when it comes to “Father forgive them, for they know what they do?” We DO know what we are doing . . . ..and are about to pay a karmic debt larger and more intense than we will be able to bear. As designated stewards this planet was created to be our Heaven. We are instead creating our Heaven into our Hell.

Don’t believe it? Look around.

What ‘Wild Wild Country’ Reveals To The World About Osho — Collective Evolution

osho-walking

I have read much of Osho’s teachings and insights and have gotten a lot of spiritual understanding from them . . .BUT

The documentary “Wild Wild Country” speaks one thing louder and clearer to me than all that I’ve read or have seen from this man before and that is:

Regardless of who the charismatic leader happens to be, regardless of whether he goes by the name Leader/Teacher/Guru/Master or as in the Christian faith, Savior . . . his/her’s followers always seem to choose worship over learning. . . and by doing so recreate this same scenario time and time again in every religion and sect on this planet.

They created, subliminally perhaps, Osha (as well as the many others) into what he became. They sat as his feet and fed his ego to the point that he fell out of balance and probably began to believe the PR they were laying upon him. . . . and up in smoke and down the rabbit hole the whole lot of them went.

No earth bound teacher can feast with the Gods and survive. (Kenneth Copeland and his ilk of end-time preachers/guru’s/new age bumble f–ks comes to mind)

This documentary reveals that better than any I’ve yet to see . . . his followers worshiped him, adored him, and honored his teachings, but in the final analysis they failed to move beyond the presence of his powerful ego . . . and he became yet another tin horn God wasting his gift of wisdom on a people more interested in dreams and promises than taking the inner journey those teachings demanded of them. . . . and so it goes . . . and here we are. . . on our way to extinction without a murmur of self incrimination.

Following is a story I wrote some years ago about a people who got lost immediately upon arrival because they chose to worship rather than observe closely and learn the truths contained in this wonderful dimension we find ourselves sharing in.

This is a passage from the KJV, it’s taken out of Romans 18-32, that famous few verses where God pretty much includes everything and everybody into His wrath because of their idolatrous nature.

Romans 1:18-32
King James Version (KJV)

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Ok, let’s pretend I’m God and I’m trying to tell you guys something, but your aggravating me because you’re not listening.

ME: Ok guys look here. This planet I made is for you. Now the reasons why I made it is none of your business, but I want you to know what I expect you to do with it.

YOU: Oh most holy God we could never understand the glory and the greatness and the wonder and . . .

ME: Shut up and listen to me will you?! This is important! I need your full and undivided attention here.

YOU: silence

ME: Creating a physical presence out of spiritual nothingness is tricky business, but I am very proud to say I have accomplished it. This planet is one beautiful place . . . but it is not perfect. That part I left up to you guys.

Now, listen up. The reason I created you guys in the first place is that I need you to be my caretakers . . . your duties will be to TAKE CARE of everything I made and keep it in order.

That means everything that is alive. You also have been given the power to create. That means this whole project can become your heaven or if you go stupid on me . . . your hell.

YOU: Oh thank you great and wonderful and wise and holy . . .

ME: You guys testing me?? . . . Now, the way it works is that everything that is alive is ME . . . just take my word for it . . . that means as you study the environment, the flora, the fauna, and all the creeping things and all the animals . . . you are studying, and getting to know, ME.

This is the only way we can communicate and the only way we will ever communicate. You cannot come to me because I AM already here. I am also YOU.

When you are asked my name by your children and your children’s children just tell them I AM . . .

Ok . . . I love you, I will always be with you . . . now get busy!

YOU: Oh thank you great and wonderful and wise and holy . . .

ME . . . (silence). . . . . . . .

YOU: GOD!! Where are you?? . . . Quick, set up an altar! Pray . . .Pray! . . . Pray!! . . . WHERE IS HE?

We are so afraid! Hurry we must subdue this planet . . . Kill all these animals and sacrifice them . . . Get rid of these damn trees!

OH MY GOD! WE forgot what He said already . . . Quick, write a book! . . . Build a temple! . . . We need an image! . . . We need something or someone to worship! . . . we need . . . We Need . . . WE NEED!!

Off in the distance a cloud formed dark and ominous and full of lightning and thunder. It grew until it encompassed the entire ocean. It moved inland towards the frightened caretakers as they bowed before their altars and prayed for deliverance.

The cloud burst upon them and pummeled them with rain for forty days and forty nights until every vestige of humanity had been erased off the planet. Man had once again drowned in his own ignorance. . . . by his own choice.

God wept, but began again.

A new docuseries has popped up on Netflix and it’s all the rave right now. It chronicles the story of Osho’s commune that was built in Oregon back in the 80’s and all of the wonder, spirituality and… shocking things that went on there. This article isn’t a hit piece, it’s not a piece casting…

Salvation . . .

You: What does it mean to be saved?

Me: That depends upon your religious affiliation, but as a rule the Christian church teaches that Jesus Christ willingly gave up his life as a sacrifice for your sins, and by your acknowledgement of that sacrifice you have been freed from the curse of sin and death. It teaches that Heaven is reserved for those who die in the faith . . . Hell is reserved for those who don’t.

Christian doctrine accepts a convert as they are and promises them a new life where they will be forgiven of past sins and become a new person as they live under the living word of God and His bible. In time the simplicity of that message created the largest and most powerful religion known to man. People flocked to the Mother church and her teachings by the millions.

When I was a younger man I know I did. I was at the end of my rope. I needed help from somewhere. Jesus was there, free and open armed, for me. I was born again in a local church and as long as I remained in good standing with the church and it’s doctrine I was guaranteed a place at the table when I got to Heaven. Heady stuff for a guy who had absolutely no religious affiliation whatsoever, and it worked great for a couple of years . . . BUT . . . (more…)

Psychedelics and Religious Experience – Alan Watts — Awaken

I love this guy! . . . always did from the first time I heard him speak those many years ago.

by Alan Watts: The experiences resulting from the use of psychedelic drugs are often described in religious terms. They are therefore of interest to those like myself who, in the tradition of William James, are concerned with the psychology of religion. For more than thirty years I have been studying the causes, the consequences, and the…

The After Life . . .

the afterlife

After having a conversation on the internet with a couple of born again Christians about the afterlife I began to wonder how many people there are on this planet who believe the party line when it comes to Heaven and Hell and the afterlife. I figure there are probably zillions, but I’m not one of them. Even during my ‘balls to the wall’ Christian days I never believed a lot of the mainline Christian doctrine. So, what am I saying? Simply that from the very beginning of my search for reality, the Christian religion has led me down a steep and winding trail.

I came impulsively into religion because I was seeking meaning and safety in a life that was quite frankly steam rolling out of control. I was an American therefore I chose Christianity. Had I been born and bred in Afghanistan I would have chosen the Muslim religion. Born elsewhere I may have become Hindu . . . Buddhist . . . etc.

Now, on the social level I have no doubt the church is an important charitable organization. It does many worthy things such as feeding the poor and homeless. It instills hope in depressed and dependant people. It is a beacon of light to the drunk, the druggy, the true believer . . . and so on. I honor her for that, but . . . by taking an exclusivity stance on truth and reality . . . by saying it’s her way or the highway to Hell she’s turned a lot of people off, especially the young, and us old folks who have enough experience under our belts can see the fallacies in that kind of belief system. Enlightenment . . .

enligtenment

If a true and lasting change must begin from within then what must we do to be changed? Do we find a Bodhi tree to sit under and meditate like the Buddha until it happens? Should we enroll in divinity school? Learn the proper incantations and rituals? What? We want to change, we’re ready to go, but we need some direction.

When I was a Christian I heard a lot about being born again. What does it mean to be born again? Does it mean to worship Jesus as savior of the world, get baptized, follow church doctrine, and do what the elders and self professed prophets tell you?

Jesus may have been our teacher . . . or the Buddha . . . or Mohammad . . . or Moses . . . or the Hindu Veda . . . but isn’t the goal of any good teacher to teach? Doesn’t their greatest joy come from watching us activate what they taught us? (more…)

Heaven

heaven

I live in a small valley surrounded by wooded hills and deep beauty. Over the years I have grown used to the quiet tranquility of this place, but this morning as I walked the dogs I viewed it for what it actually could become.

I walked down my drive and onto the narrow country road like I do every morning. The dogs peed on their favorite spots like they always do. We all started our two mile walk like we always do . . . but halfway down the lane I had what some may call a vision.

As I walked through the area where large trees from either side of the lane touched one another, I looked up into the contrast between dark shade and bright sun and I thought, ‘what could be more beautiful than this planet? Heaven? Not any future heaven I ever heard of could compete with what I have right here, right now.’ This earth as far as beauty goes is all I need. (more…)

Hell

hell

I gotta wonder, how in the hell did we ever come up with this idea anyway? Why do we take such nonsense as our truth to begin with?

I mean really, isn’t this whole “accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior or spend eternity in hell” a bit lame when you research the scriptures from where all this stuff comes from?

Now Jesus was a great teacher, perhaps even the greatest, but he was a TEACHER . . . and what greater gift can you give a teacher than to get an A on his test? He don’t need you groveling at his feet he does need you to learn your lessons. Do your homework dammit!

What kind of heavenly father would throw his kids into a dungeon and torture them for all eternity just because they didn’t give him the respect he thought he deserved? My sons don’t give me much respect, but I love them anyway and certainly would not punish them for it. Doesn’t that make me more empathetic than God? (more…)
